Frequently
Asked Questions

What areas do you serve?

We build and remodel pools throughout Orange County and Los Angeles, with a focus on estate and

ultra-luxury residential projects.

How much does a luxury pool cost in Orange County and Los Angeles?

Pool remodels typically start around $50,000, and new pool construction typically starts around $200,000.

Every project is custom, so final cost depends on site conditions, size, materials, and features like

vanishing edges, spas, or acrylic viewing walls. We provide a detailed quote after an on-site consultation.

What's the difference between a vanishing edge and a zero edge pool?

Both are "disappearing edge" designs, but they solve different problems. A vanishing edge (also called

infinity or negative edge) has water spilling over one edge into a catch basin below, creating the illusion

that the pool blends into a view — it's built for properties with elevation or a scenic backdrop, like a

hillside or ocean view. A zero edge pool instead sits flush with the surrounding deck on all sides, with

water overflowing evenly into a hidden trough — it's more about a clean, seamless look at ground level

than a view, and makes it easy to walk in and out of the pool from any side. Which one makes sense

depends on your site and what you're trying to showcase — we'll help you figure out the right fit.

Vanishing Edge vs Zero Edge

What makes Fluid Dynamics different from other pool builders?

We specialize in the highly technical, "impossible" side of pool construction — vanishing edges,

acrylic walls, hillside and difficult-site builds, and custom engineering that many builders won't take on.

Our founder, David Penton, has 30+ years in the industry, co-hosts the Ask The Masters podcast,

and teaches at Watershape University.

How do I get started?

Contact us through the form on this site or call (714) 213-8047 to schedule a consultation.

What is a vanishing edge pool?

A vanishing edge (also called an infinity edge) pool is designed so water appears

to flow off the edge into the horizon, with no visible pool wall on one or more sides.

It's one of the most technically demanding features to engineer and build correctly,

requiring precise hydraulic and structural planning — which is where our experience

with estate-scale projects matters most.

Do you build acrylic pool windows or walls?

Yes. Acrylic viewing walls and windows let you see into the pool from an adjacent room, wine cellar,

or lower level — a signature feature in several of our estate projects. They require exact engineering

to handle water pressure safely, which is a specialty of ours.

Do you handle remodels as well as new construction?

Yes, both. Remodel scope and pricing vary significantly based on whether the project is a finish-only update or a full shell rebuild — we'll walk through your specific situation during a consultation.
